What are Sheridan County Public Records?

Generally, under Wyoming Sunshine Law (Wyoming Statutes 16-4-201 through 205), Sheridan County public records are any physical record created and used by a governmental entity to conduct formal business and transaction of public affairs, that is not prohibited or private. Sheridan County public records include office files and memoranda. It also includes official public records such as vouchers and receipts. The intent is to prove the validity of all transactions related to the receipt, use, and disposition of all public property and public income from all sources. Among the records that are exempt from this law are adoption records, records of investigations, trade secrets, and data relating to licensing examinations, employment assessments, or academic assessments.

In addition to government agencies, county public records may also be obtained from third-party websites. These non-government platforms come with intuitive tools that allow for expansive searches. Record seekers may either opt to use these tools to search for a specific record or multiple records. Users can search third-party websites remotely for multiple records at a time with just the name of the record subject and their last known location including the city, county, or state. Third-party sites are not sponsored by government agencies. Because of this, record availability and results may vary.
